Lexi GoFundMe

Lexi is a very active 11-year-old who doesn’t let her challenges in life slow her down. Born with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, she has never walked. She solely relies on the power of her wheels to access her environment. Let me tell you she has places to go that some only dream of. Lexi was born into an agricultural family and agricultural is her passion. Lexi currently raises Boer goats as part of her 4H projects and production agriculture. Lexi loves showing her goats with dreams of someday making it to the National Western Stock Show and the American Boer Goat Association’s National Show. Lexi has a work ethic unlike kids her age and knows, if she wants to achieve these goals it takes hard work and dedication. That dedication is evident in the way she works with her animals. Her animals love and willingness to work hard for her comes from the hours and hours she spends with them. Not only working to get ready for the shows she attends, but simply enjoying their company.

A lot of the work Lexi wants to do is limited by her mobility. There are so many places she can’t go at home and on the ranch because her wheelchair cannot physically navigate her environment, which means she gets left out or is forced to sit on the 4-Wheeler while her family works. There are also times when it is very hard or impossible for Lexi to make it out to the corrals to spend time with her animals due to mud or snow conditions.

Recently Lexi was able to try out a new mode of transportation… a Track Chair thanks to Colorado AgrAbility Project and TrackChair Colorado. TrackChair Colorado brought a chair for her to demo and to see if it improved her mobility around the ranch. Well, it was a huge success! In the hour and a half, the TrackChair representatives were here; Lexi was able to go out to the pasture where her goats graze, down to the bottom of the property where her brother likes to play, and up the steep hillside where the irrigation ditch runs. She was able to play and explore in a way that had never been possible.

The reason for obtaining a TrackChair is so Lexi can continue to grow and explore, and to be involved as much as possible in all aspects of her 4H projects and around her home environment. As a family we would like for Lexi to be able to enjoy the great outdoors with us, like camping, fishing, and hunting. The possibilities are endless with a new Track Chair! No more getting stuck in the mud or being trapped on the 4-Wheeler while everyone else works.

If we are blessed to exceed our fundraising goals, the funds will go towards supporting Lexi’s ongoing medical needs, and travel needs to make it to her multiple appointments. It could also be used to help improve her facilities and developing her herd of goats. If you are not comfortable with GofundMe we have also set up an account with Grand Valley Bank in Collbran, CO or can accept credit cards through the Venmo app. Please consider supporting us with giving Lexi the liberty to enjoy life to the fullest, full throttle ahead!

Thank you all for your support and God Bless!
