Programs
AgrAbility has developed a comprehensive collaborative framework that integrates multiple evidence-informed training programs to address the critical physical and behavioral health needs of people working in agriculture throughout Colorado. Our programs form a comprehensive ecosystem of physical and behavioral health support designed to address the elevated suicide rates, injuries, disabilities, and behavioral health challenges uniquely affecting Colorado’s agricultural workforce.

Colorado Agriculture Addiction and Mental Health Program
AgrAbility co-administers the Colorado Agriculture Addiction and Mental Health Program (CAAMHP) with the Colorado Farm Bureau, ensuring that agricultural populations have access to free therapy services. CAAMHP offers anyone working in agriculture six free, confidential therapy sessions with agriculture-competent licensed behavioral health professionals. The anonymous nature of the service and remote accessibility options help overcome traditional barriers to mental health care in rural communities.
COMET™ Trainings: Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory
Colorado AgrAbility Project delivers COMET community trainings, developed by the High Plains Research Network (HPRN), across Colorado. These trainings equip agricultural community members with early intervention skills to identify and support individuals in vulnerable mental states. This grassroots, prevention-focused approach teaches the importance of checking in and having intentional conversations with those going through difficult times. By empowering community members to recognize and respond to mental health concerns before they escalate into crises, COMET fills a critical gap in rural mental health resources. CAP also partners with HPRN to offer COMET Regional Trainer trainings for teams and individuals that want to be trained as COMET trainers.

Training for Health Professionals and Rural Service Providers
Colorado AgrAbility Project supported the development of the LandLogic Model for behavioral health professionals. Developed by Behavioral Health professionals with agricultural backgrounds, LandLogic addresses the need for therapeutic interventions that reflect the language and lived experiences of agricultural communities. The model integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques with agriculture themed interventions and acknowledges the deep connection between people working in agricultural and their land. This culturally competent approach helps providers build rapport and deliver effective, relevant care by integrating agricultural identity and experiences into clinical practice.
Key outcomes:
- In 2024, Colorado AgrAbility trained 200+ healthcare professionals in the LandLogic Model.
